Anime is a very popular form of animation ranging from a variety of genres. Originating from Japan, it has managed to capture the hearts of people of all ages. But what animes are popular at Northbrook? And what genre do people like the most?

The top five anime that people like at Northbrook are Hunter x Hunter, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Promised Neverland. All of which fall under the action/horror category.

Hunter x Hunter tells the story of a 12-year-old boy named Gon, who is on a quest to find his father, who is gone. His first adventure is to become a hunter. A hunter is a person who has passed the hunter exam. It is a challenging exam that many people risk their lives to give. Along the way, Gon makes unlikely friends with an assassin, a doctor, and a prince-like dude.

Demon Slayer is about Tanjiro, whose entire family is eaten by a demon who happens to look a lot like Michael Jackson. Finding that his sister is the only family member left alive but had been turned into a demon, he goes on a quest to regain his sister’s humanity. Along the way, he meets a simp and a boar, and together they will save people from the blood-thirsty demons.

Izuku Midoriya lives in a world of quirks(superpowers) and dreams of becoming a pro hero. Unfortunately, he is born quirkless, meaning that he doesn’t have superpowers. But when an unlikely encounter with All Might (the world’s #1 hero) leads him to become his successor by eating All Might’s hair. He now has the same powers as All Might. My Hero Academia tells the stories of Izuku’s own experiences and that of his classmates. They take us on an adventure as we learn about what it takes to become a pro hero.

Jujutsu Kaisen is about Itadori, a 16-year-old boy who eats the finger of a vicious curse named Sukuna. Now Itadori must share a body with Sukuna, and he must find all 20 of Sukuna’s fingers to rid the world of one of the most dangerous curses out there. Now Itadori trains at the Jujutsu Academy, a school dedicated to destroying curses.

The Promised Neverland is about an Orphanage on top of Grace field, where the children are tested multiple times a day. Often, a child is adopted and is allowed to leave the field walls. However, the child will not meet a happy ending. When Emma and Norman find Conny, a little girl who was recently adopted, half-eaten inside a container, they learn the truth. The kids were being raised to be fed to demons. The children would take daily tests to make sure that their brains were healthy and developed because that is what the demons ate. Emma, Ray, and Norman must now find a way to escape and save every last child in the orphanage.

These anime are very popular because they tell compelling stories about people that are around our ages. They help students relate to the characters at a certain level that other shows fail to achieve. By telling fantastic stories about what friendship and hard work can do, it’s no wonder that people love these stories.
