Mr. Slape, also known as Gabriel Slape, was born and raised in New Mexico. Slape was raised with two brothers and one sister, one of his brothers shares the same birthday as him. His favorite food is a burger, and his first job was at Burger King. He loved this job because he would get free burgers when he worked night shifts. Growing up he liked watching basketball but he wasn’t very good at sports, so he found something that he never thought he would try.

In 6th grade, a teacher pulled out a chess board and invited him to play. After playing a couple of matches with his teacher he got a liking to chess, to the point where he made his mom buy him a chess board of his own. He would practice at home every day, and eventually, he decided to play other people at school, he was winning most matches. Slape thought of an idea, which was to make money from his chess matches. He was winning roughly $55 a week from these chess games.

When Slape got into high school he did not have a clue of what to do after, until he met his 12th-grade History Teacher, who was his favorite teacher. Slape realized that becoming a history teacher in the future might be something of interest to him for his future.

After High School, he attended New Mexico State in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he got his bachelor’s degree, but he didn’t plan to attend here; he planned on Attending Texas Tech University but was rejected.

Since he has become a teacher he has planned on many things and one of them is buying his next truck, after the new TRX came out he has had an eye on it for a while. So one of these days we should not be surprised if he pulls up to Northbrook High School in that TRX.
