Students at Northbrook High School have passions they cherish and feel they can express themselves through actions instead of words.  The Raider soccer boys play the same sport, but they play with different purposes and meaning for them. Their inspiration pushes them to put effort besides achievement into their desire for soccer. 

Werner Linares is a 15 year old sophomore who has a passion for soccer. He began playing soccer at the age of 5, and has played ever since. His inspiration is Cristiano Ronaldo, he commented, “my inspiration will always be Cristiano Ronaldo, because in him I saw a person who worked hard and could become the best in the world not just once but five times.” His objective this upcoming soccer season 2025-2026 is to start every game, score a minimum of 15 goals along with generating beyond 10 assists. Werner said, “I feel very good, I feel that this year I can do better than last year.” 

Additionally, another student by the name of Dylan, who has been playing soccer for 8 years, has an astounding goal to achieve which consists of getting MVP this 2025-2026 soccer season. Dylan plays mid center, which he enjoys considering he gets to participate in the game a lot more plus gets to pass the ball from a far.                                                                                         

Maynor is also a sophomore at Northbrook High School, with a passion for soccer. He has played since 2020, through his brother, he saw a potential he could never have imagined for himself. Maynor plays as a striker, he declared, “Something I like about my position is that I can score goals.” Maynor playing this position has allowed him to grow as a player and as a competitive player. 

We can see that these students appreciate this sport, they are showing us how important it is to have a passion about something and how to achieve it.
