Forming in April 2023, Febuary is a brand new band from Las Vegas that started gaining a bunch of traction within the emo community and TikTok for different reasons. The band would release their debut album titled “February” on April 20th, 2024. The female fronted band would consist of 4 people: guitarist and vocalist Rila, guitarist and vocalist Airon, bassist Steph, and drummer Abby, with Steph being the one who came up with the name of the band.

The band would perform live for a couple of shows, but would seemingly break up out of nowhere less than a year after releasing their debut album. Although many people were saddened by the unexpected news, the band would also unexpectedly reunite a couple of months later. Many people were confused as to why they would say they’d announce their departure just to come back a few months later. Some time later, their track titled “No Way…” would become very popular on TIkTok which would only gain them even more attention and fans. It seemed as if the band was on fire right now and rightfully so.

Fast forward to July 2025, Febuary would drop their newly anticipated EP titled “Run Like a Girl”, but unexpected news would come out that would cause a sudden change of view towards the band, and also overshadow their brand new release. Ex bassist player, Steph, would come out and say that she was kicked out of the band and claimed that they said she should stick in her own lane and just play bass rather than also do vocals.

The day this happened fans would comment on their latest post asking why they would do this to Steph, weirdly so, all the band did was erase comments relating to her in the post. After some time had passed by it seemed as if all the controversy relating towards the band had gone away, until the lead singer of the group, Rila, would come out and claim that she had been groomed by the lead singer, Ben Barnett, from Kind of Like Spitting. Rila would expose his wrong doings and also come out with a whole document with evidence relating towards the stuff he did not only to her, but towards the rest of the Febuary band. This controversy would result to Kind of Like Spitting cancelling all tour dates they had lined up, and as well as get taken off the lineup for the Best Friends Forever Fest, where Febuary would also be performing.
