On Monday September 29, 2025, the Northbrook High School choir had their first concert in the auditorium featuring the middle school choirs from Spring Woods, Landrum and Northbrook. It has been a tradition for all these choirs to have their first concert of the year together.
There is always a clinic that is hosted by the Northbrook choir director Mr.Peter Farley and the new assistant director, Ms. Allison Tilotta. These clinics are created to ensure that everyone is on the same path into singing the combined music piece that we all sing together. This year’s clinic was held on Friday September 26, 2025, between 5:15 to 7:30 pm. During this practice the boys and girls were separated into either the choir room or the auditorium. This process was done for all the boys to practice singing, “Somebody got lost” and all the girls practice singing, “The Rivers are Running Again.” Towards the end of the clinic we practiced the transitions between the choirs so that it would prevent chaos from happening at the actual concert.
The concert began at 6:30pm. The Northbrook High school students are given time to go home, practice or attend tutorials. This means that they have a time period of when school dismisses at 3:15 to 5:30 pm to take care of their personal business. This was not really an option for the varsity chorale because at 4 pm, they were required for rehearsal time which ended at 4:30 pm. Although, the varsity chorale was in fact given “free time” afterwards. The middle school choirs arrived around 5 pm and were seated in their assigned areas. This assigned areas are designed to seat the middle school choirs to ensure that they sit with their school and are prepared for the transitions off and on the stage. This not only benefitted the choirs, but it also is designed to have designated seats for the audience. The audience filled the auditorium, waiting for the concert to begin to watch the performance. The concert ended an hour later with the combined song called, “On the Faces of the World” that was sung by all the choirs. The marks the first concert for all the choirs at Northbrook High School as a successful event.
