Have you ever had a pet that you formed such a strong bond with and realized the true definition of love and loyalty, that pet that would follow you around wherever you would go, and when you would leave to go to work he would wait to great you after work with so much joy. This is what this screen adaption of Lasse Hallstrom “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” conveys in a heartbreaking way. Lasse felt inspired by the true story of loyalty of this dog and felt the need to share it.
Modern-day (early 2000s) small town in New England, were an Akita puppy was found abandoned at a train station by Professor Parker Wilson, who took him in and quickly formed an unbreakable bond. Hachi would walk Professor Parker Wilson to the train station were he would later be waiting to great him after work. The main characters are Hachi, Professor Parker Wilson, Cate Wilson, and Andy Wilson. The story is about a Akita dog named Hachi and his incredible unwavering loyalty to his owner. Professor Parker Wilson (Richard Gere) and Hachi did a great job, while Cate Wilson (Joan Allen) did good but she could of done a little better.
I liked the strong bond Hachi and Professor Parker had and the emotion acted trough out the movie because I could feel the emotions with every scene that was happening. Something I didn’t like about the movie was that there was no happy ending because Hachi would wait at the train station everyday for Professor Parker Wilson to come back but he never did. The lessons that I learned from this movie were that the love and loyalty doesn’t have to be shaped like a human, and that the people who truly value you will always wait for you. I think others will learn from it that a true friendship comes in all shapes and sizes.
The group of people that would like this movie are people who like animals. I would recommend it to everyone if I could but I would recommended to the people that like to feel the emotions trough the screen. I would not recommended to the people that don’t feel sympathy. The MPAA rating of the movie is G. My final word on the film is that it is good film. I give the movie a score of 10 out of 10.
