“Ready Player One” will have you ready with another batch of popcorn!
“Ready Player One” is a fascinating movie. Everything from the music to action scenes still give me goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it. Ernest Cline’s novel has come to life in its movie production in 2018. “Ready Player One” conveys an into the future experience, where people fulfill their life in the virtual reality universe; the OASIS. It follows the story of a young game addict- Wade Watts and his journey in this virtual reality universe.
The setting takes place in the year 2045, in Columbus Ohio, the world is in chaos and people’s only hope is to find salvation in the OASIS; a virtual reality universe created by James Halliday (Mark Rylance). James Halliday however, dies and leaves his whole fortune and virtual reality universe to whomever can find the hidden easter eggs within the OASIS. Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) the protagonist of this show joins the hunt in this virtual reality universe to escape his miserable life. However, he isn’t the only one who is joining this hunt. Along this journey, Wade finds himself meeting new people who help him against the Innovative Online Industries (IOI), an evil corporation trying to take control of the OASIS on orders of Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn), the CEO of IOI.
Ready Player One’s action scenes were made possible through the use of VFX, which made the movie feel so advanced, and that’s one thing I liked about this movie, especially its action/battle scenes. Moreover, some battle scenes had real hype music, take for example ‘Twisted Sister’s song – “We’re Not Gonna Take It” made its appearance near the end of the movie and made that specific scene one of the BEST. Ready Player One’s theme is simple: the true difference between reality and illusion. While some may enjoy video games, it is important to step into reality even if there are problems, escaping that problem becomes an illusion.
This movie is PG-13; intended for those age 13 and up, so I don’t really recommend it for those of lower age. If you’re a gamer or just someone who wants to watch something worthwhile, then “Ready Player One” should definitely be on your list. Overall, this movie is really good, I wouldn’t say the best of all movies because I’m no movie expert, but Ready Player One just really hits the spot. I give this movie an 8.6/10 and if you think about it, it’s a good rating. In any case, if you feel like watching a good movie with your friends, then you should go along with Ready Player One, it’s really worth the watch.
