The road to Real Madrid’s 15th UCL began on Sep 20, 2023. They began with facing Union Berlin in the group stage on match day 1. They go on to win struggling at first but start clicking on the second half. This would be Bellingham’s first UCL game as a Real Madrid player which they bought during the transfer window. Other teams that Real Madrid played during the group stage matches are Napoli and Braga which they end up beating and going undefeated in the group stages topping the group with 18 points. The knockout stage began on February 13 and it began with the round of 16 which Real Madrid faced RB LEIPZIG. In the two matches that they played, they tie one game and Real Madrid won the second game 1-0. Real Madrid win by aggregate goals which allows them to move on to the quarter finals.
In the quarter finals Real Madrid face Manchester City. This would be a hyped up game considering Manchester City had won the UCL last season and were considered the best team at the moment. Everyone was favoring Manchester City to win. They first game ends up tie 1-1. The second leg begins and ends and they tie as well which takes them to penalties. Real Madrid wins on penalties with the goal of Antonio Rudiger.
They faced Bayern Munich in the semifinals and tie the first game 2-2. On the second leg they beat them 2-1 with two clutch goals that came in the 89th minute by “Joselu” which was the savior for Real Madrid. They go on to the Finals and face off Dortmund at the Wembly Stadium in London. This leads to the famous #Aporla15 phrase that every Madrid fan was saying leading to the final. The final ends in a 2-0 win and Real Madrid wins their 15th UCL trophy.
